The "Martin-Gropius-Bau" (former Arts and Crafts Museum) was built between 1877 and 1881 in Berlin. It was widely destroyed during World War II and underwent reconstruc-tion from 1978 to 1987.
The new usage of the rooms for temporary exhibitions required significant changes to the building. These were: - Relocation of the entrance to the northern side
- Installation of staircases and sanitation systems
- Removal of arcade levels built during the seventies and eighties reconstruction period
- Thermopane glazing for the roofing of the inner court yard after extensive structural investigations
- Modernization of all mechanical and security ser- vices
