The "Martin-Gropius-Bau" (former Arts and Crafts Museum) was built between 1877 and 1881 in Berlin. It was widely destroyed during World War II and underwent reconstruc-tion from 1978 to 1987.
The new usage of the rooms for temporary exhibitions required significant changes to the building. These were:
Relocation of the entrance to the northern side
Installation of staircases and sanitation systems
Removal of arcade levels built during the seventies and eighties reconstruction period
Thermopane glazing for the roofing of the inner court yard after extensive structural investigations
Modernization of all mechanical and security ser- vices
