The former 19 th century tobacco factory – later used as the guest house of the East German government – was con-verted into a media centre.
Extensive investigations were made into the historical ceilings which are constructed as "Koenensche Vouten-platte" – a haunched reinforced concrete slab with inte-grated steel beams and "Preussische Kappen" – arched historic masonry ceilings with steel beam abutment.
